Bridal Beauty: Lucious locks for your big day

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, and every bride wants to turn heads when she walks down the aisle! The big beautiful dress and elegant, subtle makeup are obviously major parts of achieving this - but don’t forget about your hair!

Most brides dream of having gorgeous, flowing hair or a classic up-do on their big day, both of which are best done with long, thick hair. If you have quite short or damaged hair you might be getting a bit worried reading this - don't panic, we have a guide on how to prep your hair to make it look fabulous on the day…

Don’t wait until last minute

Make sure you start looking after your hair in plenty of time before your big day - at least six months before! Getting your hair trimmed is of course very important, if split ends aren’t cut off they can travel up the shaft causing the hair to break. However, getting it trimmed too often will take away the length that you’ve worked hard to achieve - we recommend getting it trimmed every three months.

Use a high quality, professional Shampoo and Conditioner

The first step to reducing damage on your hair and therefore making it longer, thicker and healthier is by avoiding harsh chemicals; most high street shampoos contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which is what makes them lather up which means your hair is cleaner right? Wrong! SLS is very damaging to the hair; it is a cheap chemical just for companies to save some money - this ingredient is also used in washing up liquid! Try and use Shampoo’s and Conditioners which don’t include SLS, all of our shampoos and conditioners are Sodium Lauryl Sulfate free!

Don’t over wash your hair

Washing your hair too often strips it of its natural oils which are essential for healthy hair. Try and wash your hair 2-3 times a week only. Our Rich Repair shampoo is perfect for giving your hair a deep cleanse without having to wash it too often, keeping your natural oils in place. It also builds internal strength making your hair thicker.  If your hair gets greasy easily it may be difficult not to wash it most days - if this is the case our Daily Cleanse program may be a better choice for you, it is more gentle and will help maintain the right moisture balance for the hair and scalp by cleansing without stripping out the natural oils.

Protect, protect, protect!

Go easy on the heat - obviously straighteners, curlers, hair dryers, etc. are necessary for making your hair look stylish. However, hot styling tools are one of the main causes of damage. Try to cut down on using these, one way to reduce heat damage is by letting your hair dry naturally. If you absolutely have to use a hot styling tool, make sure you protect your hair! Our Heat Shield is a great product for protecting your hair from heat and UV damage, unlike most heat protectors ours resists heat above 200 degrees - it also prevents hair from becoming frizzy in humid conditions.

Tying your hair up is a great solution to a bad hair day or when you’re trying to use less heat, however pulling your hair back tightly and often can cause damage. Try and leave your hair down and loose as often as you can. If your hair doesn’t look the best down without straightening it, make sure you protect it. Another alternative is to create a ‘roughed up’ look with your natural hair, our Volume Dust is perfect for achieving a beachy, ‘lived in’, festival look so you can be stylish without damaging your hair!

Spoil your hair

Treating your hair weekly with a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask is great for reducing and preventing damage and completely revitalises your hair! Our Rich Repair Mask will restore your hair's health from deep within - apply weekly for 20 minutes for so the natural plant proteins can penetrate deep into the hair shaft. Our Recovery Oil and Daily Revive are also great for adding extra hydration and protection to your hair daily making the hair look and feel softer and healthier.

Stick to a healthier, balanced diet

Your diet is the most important factor of healthy hair and hair growth - it is important to feed your hair with all the right nutrients such as Vitamins C & D, Iron and Protein, if you avoid fatty, processed foods and ensure you get the right nutrients your hair will definitely grow longer and thicker faster!

We know how hard it is to change your diet and make sure you get all of the things you need so if doing this isn’t right for you we have a solution - our Healthy hair supplements! Unlike most other hair supplements available which only contains Vitamins, ours contain four key Sulphur Rich Amino Acids that are essential for the growth and development of stronger healthier hair, as well as the essential nutrients.  It can take up to 3 months to see the full results. Therefore, it is important to start these in plenty of time.

If you include these tips into your hair regime on the run up to your big day, you will have longer, thicker and healthier hair to achieve wedding hair goals!
